Großweitzschen is a municipality in the northern part of the Central Saxony, Saxony.

Geography

The community is located about 5 km north- west of the city chub in the Middle Saxon hills, above the valley of the Freiberger Mulde. The district Westewitz is right on the Freiberger Mulde.

History

A large village Großweitzschen in the former county chub was created in 1994 as part of the Saxon village of territorial reform of the formerly independent communities Großweitzschen, Mockritz and Westewitz and since then comprises 24 districts. The district Mockritz was first mentioned in 1204 and was the seat of an old aristocratic family and center of the region.

Economy and infrastructure

On connection chub - North the A14 you will find the commercial area.

In the district Westewitz there is a high weir at the Freiberger Mulde.

In high Weitz 's is a psychiatric hospital since 1874.

Traffic

Through the district Gadewitz in the East B leads 169 The community is also accessible via the A14 connections chub -Nord and Leisnig (both about 10 km). The former is located in the municipality.

A bridge in Westewitz leads over the trough, the next trough bridges are located upstream in Technitz or - down in Klosterbuch.

Through the district Westewitz the railway line (Leipzig ) Borsdorf - chub - Coswig ( Dresden ) leads to the train station Westewitz high Großweitzschen.
