Catchment area and the course of the Guadalupe River

It flows from Kerr County to San Antonio Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. The river is used for rafting and canoeing. Larger cities along the river include New Braunfels, Kerrville, Seguin, Gonzales, Cuero and Victoria.

The Guadalupe River is dammed by several dams. The most famous of which is the Canyon Dam, which impounds the river northwest of New Braunfels for Canyon Lake.

River

The headwaters of the Guadalupe River in the Texas Hill Country, is a small fast flowing water with limestone banks, which is lined with genuine Pecannussbäumen and bald cypress. The actual flow is formed by the confluence of the two main arms source, the North Fork and the South Fork Guadalupe River.

The upper section of the river is popular in the spring and summer months to the tubing. Here, the people with inflated rubber tubes ( tubes ) to drift down the river.

East of Boerne, on the border between Kendall County and Comal County, the river flows through the Guadalupe River State Park, one of the most popular tubing routes the entire river.

The lower course of the river begins at the outlet from the Canyon Lake near New Braunfels. This section between Canyon Dam and New Braunfels is most used for recreation seekers. There are whitewater activities for rafting, canoeing, kayaking and tubing possible.

The runoff of the river vary greatly. They depend on the seasons and precipitation events in the environment.

The Comal River in New Braunfels opens into the Guadalupe River. Approximately 3 km west of Gonzales meets the San Marcos River to the Guadalupe River.

The San Antonio River reaches the Guadalupe River just north of Tivoli. Before the Guadalupe River flows into the estuary of San Antonio Bay, it forms a river delta and is divided into two branches, the North and the South Guadalupe River. Both arms flow into the Guadalupe Bay and San Antonio Bay.
