Hansjörg Jäkle

Hansjörg Jäkle (* October 19, 1971 in Schonach ) is a former German ski jumper.

Career

Jäkle began his career as a Nordic skier and was there until 1990 in the C- squad of the national team. Because of the reunification, he was removed in favor of younger athletes from the squad. After a year break, he rose as a special Springer 1992 in the Intercontinental Cup. A victory in Oberwiesenthal secured him admission to the B-team of the ski jumpers. In 1994, he succeeded by a 6th in Bischofshofen qualifying for the Olympic Games in Lillehammer, where he was team Olympic champion together with Jens Weißflog, Dieter Thoma and Christof Duffner. In the Nordic World Ski Championships 1995 in Thunder Bay, the German team took silver with Jäkle. Two years later, at the World Championship 1997 in Trondheim, the German team won with Jäkle, Duffner, Thoma and Martin Schmitt bronze. 1998 was finally the most successful year in Jäkles career: team silver at the Olympic Winter Games in Nagano, German champion on the normal hill, German champion with the team and a second place in the Four Hills Tournament in Bischofshofen. After the 2001/2002 season, he ended his active career as a ski jumper. He started a total of 165 times in the World Cup.

In the Olympic seasons, he was sergeant in the sports promotion group Todtnau the Bundeswehr at Feldberg ( Todtnauer hut).

Private

Jäkle, which is also called Jackson, is a qualified electronics technician. He has been married since 2001 and has a son and a daughter. In addition to ski jumping, he ran long motocross with a Yamaha YZ 250 In October 2004, however, he broke both legs in a fall. He suffered severe comminuted fractures and had to work hard to go back to. Today he is a teacher of Technology and works in his hometown Schonach and as youth coach.
