Helcmanovce
Helcmanovce ( German Helzmanowitz or Hannsdorf, Hungarian Nagykuncfalva - Nagykunchfalu to 1907 - to 1892 Helcmanóc ) is a town in eastern Slovakia, with 1488 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011), which belongs to Okres Gelnica, a circle of Košice kraj.
Geography
The municipality is located in the valley of Hnilec ( German Göllnitz ) between the mountains Volovské Hills and Hnilecké Hills ( both part of the Slovak Ore Mountains ). The center is located at an altitude of 425 m nm and is located 10 km from Gelnica and 44 km from Ves.
History
Helcmanovce was first mentioned in 1297 as Cuncz writing in the 14th century and was part of the Herrschaftsguts of Spis Castle. 1828 are listed 161 houses and 1,618 inhabitants. The population was predominantly employed in agriculture and mining.
