Hell–Sunnan Line

Light - Sunnanbanen is the old name for the first part of the Nordlandsbane and refers to the distance between light in Stjørdal and Sunan at the end of Snåsavatnet in Steinkjer.

The line was opened in 1902 to Levanger and to Sunan 1905. From 1905 to 1926 Sunan was the terminus of the later Nordlandsbane. The further construction was delayed due to disagreements in the district Innherred as the continuation of the route should take place to the north. The original plans were to lead the route of Sunan over Beitstad to Namsos, but this was rejected.

Thus, the lines on Snåsa is selected while Namsosbanen was built as a branch line from Grong out.
