Helmut Haussmann

Helmut Haussmann ( born May 18, 1943 in Tübingen) is a German politician (FDP / DVP ). He was from 1988 to 1991 Federal Minister of Economics.

Life and career

After graduation in 1961 Hausmann studied economics and social sciences in Tübingen, Hamburg and Nuremberg. In 1968 he finished his studies with a diploma. He then worked as a managing partner at the company Berninger & Spilcke KG in Bad Urach. In 1971, he joined as a research assistant at the Chair for Corporate Governance in the Economic and Social Sciences at the Friedrich- Alexander -University Erlangen -Nuremberg. In 1975 his doctorate. pol. with the employment agency order and self-determination. Since 1991 he has worked at the consulting firm Capgemini. He was appointed Honorary Professor of International Management at the University of Erlangen -Nuremberg in 1996. Since 2010 he is an Associate Professor with the Faculty of Economics of the University of Tübingen

Helmut Haussmann is married to Margot Hausmann.

Party

Hausmann is a member of the FDP / DVP. From 1975 to 1987 he was FDP / DVP- county chairman in Reutlingen. From 1 June 1984 to October 8, 1988, he was Secretary General of the FDP.

Member of Parliament

From 1975 to 1980, Hausmann member of the city council of Bad Urach, where he is residing.

From 1976 to 2002 he was a member of the German Bundestag. Helmut Haussmann was last (14th legislature 1998) collected over the national list Baden- Württemberg in the German Bundestag. In the 2002 federal elections Hausmann missed the re- dip in the Bundestag by a list place, because the FDP / DVP in contrast to the national trend suffered a loss of votes.

Public offices

On 9 December 1988, he was appointed as Federal Minister of Economics led by Chancellor Helmut Kohl Federal Government. After the parliamentary election in 1990 he retired from the Federal Government on 18 January 1991.
