Hergatz

Hergatz is a municipality in the Bavarian- Swabian district of Lindau ( Bodensee). It was established in its present form in the late 1970s as part of the local government reform of the Altgemeinden Wohmbrechts and Maria -Thann.

Geography

Hergatz located in the western Allgäu. The municipality is located in a height range of 550-630 meters above sea level.

The districts Grod, Beuren, Möllen, Wohmbrechts and Hergatz are on the main road 12 Munich -Lindau, about 20 km from Lindau. The B 12 forms in Wohmbrechts the through-road.

The districts Grod, storage roof and crafts are run on the Upper Argen. History

The community Hergatz arose on 1 May in 1978 the merger of the municipalities Wohmbrechts and Maria -Thann.

Hergatz 1349 was mentioned for the first time. At that time possessed by the Lords of Ellhofen that Schlaich of Schreckelberg the Bailiwick Wohmbrechts and Wangen citizens the ownership and right to rule. Wohmbrechts

Maria -Thann

Wohmbrechts

The former castle and the church of St. George can be visited. At the B 12 is the former salt warehouse. In the Palace of Peter Paul Lingg is housed, among other pizzeria.

Maria -Thann

St. Mary's Church, a pilgrimage church with a green onion dome, is one of the oldest churches in the Allgäu region, is the origin of the parish of Mary -Thann.
