Hermanni (Helsinki)

Hermanni ( swedish Hermanstad ) is the 21st district (Finnish kaupunginosa ) of the Finnish capital Helsinki.

The district is bordered to the north by the district Toukola, to the south and east by Sörnäinen and to the west, separated by the Hämeentie to Alppiharju, Vallila and Kumpula. Together with Vallila forms Hermanni one municipality ( peruspiiri ), which also carries the name of Vallila. Is named the district after the Barons Herman Standertskjöld - Nordenstam. Originally formed in Hermanni from the 1880s wooden houses, which were later, however, becoming increasingly marginalized in the 1950s and 1960s from brick and concrete structures. Originated mainly in the south of the district again recently new modern houses.

Politically Hermanni is a stronghold of the Greens and the Left. In the parliamentary elections of 2011, the Social Democratic Party received the Green Federal Government and the Left Alliance, respectively 19.8%, 19.3%. The National Coalition Party 16.9 %, and the base fins with 12.7% followed the other ranks.
