Herschel Burke Gilbert

Herschel Burke Gilbert ( born April 20, 1918 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, † June 8, 2003 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American conductor and composer of film music, which was nominated three times for an Oscar.

Biography

Gilbert began in 1945 as a conductor in the film Song of Mexico and was in the course of his career in the film industry in Hollywood as a composer and conductor for the music of 150 films and television series responsible.

At the Academy Awards in 1953, he received his first nomination for an Academy Award for Best Film Music, and indeed for I am an atom spy ( 1952). In 1954, he received together with the songwriter Sylvia Fine for " The Moon Is Blue" from the film clouds are everywhere ( 1953) was nominated for an Oscar for best song. Most recently, he was nominated for the Academy Awards in 1955 for an Oscar for best film music for Carmen Jones ( 1954).
