Hesseneck
Hesseneck is a municipality in the Odenwald district, in Hesse ( Germany ). With fewer than 700 inhabitants Hesseneck is the smallest independent community in Hesse. The village lies on the border of Hesse with Bavaria and Baden- Württemberg.

Geography
The place is located in the southern Odenwald at the foot of Krähberges in 230-500 meters altitude.
Neighboring communities
Hesseneck bordered to the north by the cities Beerfelden and Erbach (both in the Odenwald region ) as well as the market Kirchzell ( Miltenberg district in Bavaria), in the east on the community Mudau (Neckar -Odenwald district, in Baden -Württemberg), in the south on the town of Eberbach (Rhein- Neckar-Kreis in Baden- Württemberg ) and in the west on the community Sensbachtal ( Odenwald ).

History
On October 1, 1971, the previously independent municipalities Hesselbach, Kailbach and Schöllenbach were merged to form the new municipality Hesseneck.

Mayor Thomas Ihrig (SPD ) was re-elected in the first ballot on 12 June 2005, 71.7 % of the vote.
Culture and sights
Structures
- Worth the course of the Limes through the district Hesselbach with the eponymous castle and watchtower foundations as well as the source church Schöllenbach is (built in 1465 ).
- In Kailbach is the Haintalviadukt the Odenwaldbahn. It is made with a length of 173 meters and a height of 30 meters of nine arches, each with 15 meter span.

Traffic
Through the federal highway 45 ( Hanau- Eberbach ), which is reached after about 9 km in Beerfelden OT Hetzbach, Hesseneck is connected to the transport network. The Odenwaldbahn opens up the community with breakpoints in Kailbach and Schöllenbach.
