Hodkovce

Hodkovce ( Hatkotz German, Hungarian Hatkóc until 1927 Slovak Hadkovce ) is a town in eastern Slovakia with 291 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011). It is located in Okres Košice - okolie kraj part of Košice.

Geography

The community is located about 17 kilometers west of the city of Košice. The 7.57 km ² large municipality extends from the south-eastern foothills of the Slovak Ore Mountains in the north to the fertile hills of the foothills to the brim of the Ida valley as part of the basin Košická kotlina in the south. The northern, mountain -engine -thirds of its territory is covered by dense deciduous forests. Here heights of over 500 meters above sea level achieved ( Biely kameň, 607 m nm ), while the village of Hodkovce to 320 m height is. South of Hodkovce rises the 315 m high spur of the Toviky. Through the community area flock to the North-South direction some mountain streams, which flow together in Slany creek and creek on the Šemšiansky for Ida drain.

Neighboring communities of Hodkovce are Hýlov in the north, semsa in the east, the south and Panovce Nováčany in the West.

History

Already settled in the early 14th century, the village in 1427 was first mentioned as Horhkowch. It was created as an extension of the neighboring village semsa, which belonged to the sphere of influence of the masters of the Spis Castle. The place name is derived from the Slavic personal name Hodkov. About Hatkocz (1630 ), Hatkowcze (1786 ) and Hadkovce (up to 1927), the name has gradually evolved into the present Hodkovce. In 1427 there were in the former dispersed settlement Hodkovce nine farmsteads. To exclusively Slovak population came after the Turkish invasion, and especially after the Battle of Mohács north abgedrängte Hungary as new settlers to do so. By the Treaty of Trianon, the village to the county Abaúj- Torna in the Kingdom of Hungary was, from then on belonged Hodkovce like all lying in the county Abaúj- Torna places to Czechoslovakia. After the First Vienna Award these communities were once again from 1938 to 1945 in Hungary.

Population

According to the results of the 2001 census lived in Hodkovce 267 inhabitants, of which

Economy and infrastructure

Since time immemorial, agriculture and forestry plays the most important role in Hodkovce. In addition to developing tourism there are jobs for commuters based in and around Košice industry.

Through the municipal area, the main road runs 548 ( Cesta II triedy ) from Kosice to Jasov ( Highway 548).
