Horacio de la Peña

Horacio de la Peña ( born August 1, 1966 in Buenos Aires ) is a former Argentine tennis player and tennis coach.

Life

De la Peña was each South American Junior Champion in four age categories. In 1983 he became a professional tennis player and two years later could claim his first individual title on the ATP World Tour in Marbella. In 1987, he reached to the side of Jay Berger his first doubles final at the ATP World Tour, but there they were subject Tomás Carbonell and Sergio Casal. His first doubles title he won in the following year with Sergi Bruguera in Florence. Overall, he was able to achieve in his career, four singles and six doubles titles. Its highest listing in the tennis world ranking he reached in 1987 with position 31 in the singles and in 1991 with position 53 in doubles.

His best individual result at a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the second round at the French Open. In the doubles competition, he never got beyond the second round of Wimbledon for the double he could never qualify.

De la Peña played 1986-1993 ten singles and two doubles matches for the Argentina Davis Cup team, its individual balance sheet totaled five victories in three defeats, both double games he could win.

After his retirement from professional sport he has worked as a tennis coach, were among his protégés, among others, Fernando González and Guillermo Coria.
