Hörzendorfer See

The lake is an artificial lake Hörzendorfer in Carinthia.

It is located in the town of St. Veit / Glan in the hill country north of Ulrich Berg and 3 km south of the city.

Past, the lake has been managed as a drainable carp. Today it is used as fishing and bathing water. The lake has 15 species of fish, the main species are carp, perch and pike. Invasive species are largemouth bass ( Micropterus salmoides ) and bluegill ( Lepomis gibbosus ). Until the 1980s there was a large population of crayfish, which became extinct in 1991. This was followed by a stocking with North American signal crayfish.

The lake is located at the 444 -hectare conservation area Hörzendorfer Lake - Dance Mountain ( Law Gazette No. 36/ 1970).

Swimming in the lake is a consideration in high season. In winter, the small lake freezes reliable and offers itself for skating.
