Geography

Geographical location

The city is situated in 574-917 meters altitude on the Baar plateau on the eastern edge of the southern Black Forest in the Valley of the Breg, about four kilometers south of Donaueschingen.

The city is bordered to the north by the large district town of Donaueschingen, in the east on the town Geisingen in Tuttlingen district, in the south on the town Blumberg and the community Wutach in the Waldshut district and in the west to the cities Loeffingen in the district of Breisgau in the Black Forest and Braeunlingen.

History

The earliest archaeological finds on the boundary Huefingen date from the Bronze Age. It is assumed that an early Celtic settlement, which was adopted by the Romans. This built in the early 1st century AD in the stone cave Won the fort Brigobannis, which included a bathing facility, which can still be seen today as " Römerbadmuseum ". Customs

Huefingen is known for its floral carpets on Corpus Christi.
