Høyanger

Høyanger is a commune in the Norwegian province of Sogn og Fjordane. It is bordered to the north by Fjaler and Gaular, to the east by Balestrand and Vik, on the south by modal and Masfjorden and to the west by Gulen and Hyllestad.

The community center is the village Høyanger with about 2500 inhabitants. The Sognefjord divides the municipality. On the north side are next Høyanger the villages Vadheim and Lavik. 10 km west of Høyanger is Kyrkjebø. On the south side of the Sognefjord Bjordal is the largest village. Ortnevik and Ikjefjord are two other towns in this part of the municipality.

Economy

The most important industry in Høyanger is the aluminum industry, large employers are Hydro Aluminium Fundo AS and Kværnerkonzern. As a result of government demands for modernization of the aluminum plant, Hydro has decided to handle the operation of the plant from 2007.
