Ian Bostridge

Ian Bostridge, CBE ( born December 25, 1964 in London ) is a British tenor. It acts both as a song as well as an opera singer.

Life

Training

Bostridge studied at the universities of Oxford and Cambridge history and philosophy and was after his graduation (1990 ) first as a post-doctoral fellow at Corpus Christi College (Oxford) act to then, however, to devote himself entirely to his artistic career soon.

Career

  • Purcell Room debut ( with Schubert's Winterreise ) 1994
  • Recitals in Lyon, Cologne, London, Aldeburgh, Cheltenham and Edinburgh 1996
  • Recital at the Alte Oper Frankfurt 1997
  • Further recitals in Paris, Stockholm, Lisbon, Brussels, Amsterdam and the Vienna Konzerthaus
  • In the U.S., recitals in New York at the Frick Collection and the Alice Tully Hall
  • 1998 Schubert's Winterreise in Cuvilliéstheater, Munich
  • Regularly visiting the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg
  • Concert performances, among others with the London Symphony Orchestra under Sir Colin Davis and Mstislav Rostropovich, the. Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Sir Charles Mackerras, and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra under Sir Simon Rattle

Honors

  • 2004 Ian Bostridge was nominated for his services to music Commander of the Order of the British Empire ( CBE).
  • In 2013 he was awarded the ECHO Klassik for Best Opera Recording of the Year ( Opera of 20-21. Century).
