The IF Sundsvall Hockey is a Swedish professional ice hockey club based in Sundsvall, playing in the second highest Swedish professional league, the HockeyAllsvenskan since 1994. Play their home games from the club in Gärdehov that offers 3300 spectators.

History

The home club of today's Hockey Club was founded on October 31, 1896 by the owner of the local tuna fishery, as Tunadal IF and was initially a skiing and ice skating club. Later sections for athletics, football and orienteering were added. The Section Hockey emerged only in 1952.

Between 1990 and 1994, the IF Sundsvall formed a syndicate with Timrå IK, which contested the Division I second-rate. Since the dissolution of the syndicate 1994, the IF Sundsvall heard without interruption at the second league, which has been called since 2006 HockeyAllsvenskan.

In addition to the first men's team, the association operates a women's, a senior, several amateur and youth teams of all ages. With over 600 members of the IF Sundsvall Hockey is one of the biggest clubs in Sweden.

Home ground

The ice rink Gärdehov was built in 1996 and has since been used by the IF Sundsvall for its home games. The originally open ice rink was completed in 1966. The attendance record for this rink is located at 6500 spectators and was erected in 1966, when the Swedish national team met Chimik Woskressensk.
