Igor Makarov (ice hockey)

Igor Sergeyevich Makarov (Russian Игорь Сергеевич Макаров; born September 19, 1987 in Moscow, Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who is under contract with SKA St. Petersburg in the Kontinental Hockey League since August 2011.

Career

Igor Makarov began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of Krylia Sovetov Moscow, for its first team he worked from 2004 to 2006, the Wysschaja League, the second Russian league, active. In parallel, he came since 2003, for its second team in the third-tier league Perwaja used. In the NHL Entry Draft in 2006 the winger was selected in the second round than a total of 33 players from the Chicago Blackhawks, for which, however, he never played. Instead, he remained in Russia, where he spent the next three and a half seasons with SKA St. Petersburg, first in the Super League and from the 2008/09 season in the newly formed Kontinental Hockey League.

During the season 2009/10 Makarov moved to HK Dynamo Moscow, which to its merger with the HK MVD Balaschicha after he stayed at the game time to. As a result, the Chicago Blackhawks took him to North America, where he worked in the season 2010/ 11 for the farm team the Blackhawks, the Rockford IceHogs, in American Hockey League, he was active. He scored 24 points scorer in 68 games. In August 2011 he returned to Russia and was committed again by the SKA.

Internationally

For Russia, Makarov took part in the U18 World Youth Championship in 2005, as well as the U20 Junior World Championships 2007 part.
