Ina Kleber

Ina Kleber ( born September 29, 1964 in Greiz ) is a former German swimmer who competed for East Germany.

Career

The early 1980s was one of the best adhesive back swimmers. It reached its first major success at the Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980 when she was behind Rica Reinisch win the silver medal over 100 meters. A possible Olympic gold medal in the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, however, prevented the Olympic boycott the GDR. Barely two weeks after the end of the Games in 1984, she confirmed her outstanding form with a new world record in the 100 meters backstroke, which held seven years before him, the Hungarian Krisztina Egerszegi 1991 improved.

She won at the European Championships 1981 in Split, 1983 in Rome, each title in the 100 meters back.

At the World Championships 1982 in Guayaquil they won on their favorite track behind Kristin Otto the silver medal. Ina Kleber 1980 was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze and 1984 gold.
