Indelibly Stamped is the second studio album by British Pop-/Rockband Supertramp who acted changed compared to the previous album debut and Supertramp (1970 ) with its receiving personnel. It was released in June 1971 and was unsuccessful.

History

Description

Compared to the previous year's debut album, " Supertramp ", the band for the recording of the album " Indelibly Stamped " stepped changed personnel on: Further to the fledgling group included their two founding members, composer and singer Rick Davies (keyboards, harmonica, vocals) and Roger Hodgson ( acoustic, bass and electric guitars, vocals), the latter joined by the bass guitar as the main instrument of the electric guitar and thus the band for Emergency exchanged Richard Palmer replaced. In addition, the new band members Kevin Currie joined ( percussion, drums), who took Robert Millar Place, Frank Farrell (accordion, bass guitar, piano, harmony vocals), whose main instrument ( Rogers ) Bass guitar was, and Dave Winthrop ( flute, saxophone, vocals ). The band had thus become the quarter quintet.

In contrast to the progressive rock album, " Supertramp ", which is rooted in the style of bands like King Crimson, tends " Indelibly Stamped " stylistically much more towards blues-rock and rock ' n ' roll. The musical direction of change was associated particularly with the stronger vocal and compositional participation by Rick Davies.

With the exception of written by Hodgson and Farrell "Rosie Had Everything Planned " all the songs were composed by Hodgson and Davies and texted. The latter sang their songs each himself, except "Potter ", which was sung by Winthrop.

For the first time on this album a later trademark of the band, playing the saxophone integrated. In songs such as "Forever ", which was released as a single with "Your Poppa Do not Mind " as the second song, and " Times Have Changed " is the first time another stylistic device of the later Supertramp hear: Davies staccatohaft played electric piano. Another single was released "Your Poppa Do not Mind " with " Rosie Had Everything Planned " as the second song.

Both singles were equally unsuccessful, as the album " Indelibly Stamped ". Only with the following album " Crime of the Century" in 1974 the band managed the breakthrough.

The album " Indelibly Stamped " found some public attention because of the album cover, which shows the tattooed, nude torso of a woman: The Marian Model Hollier from Bristol had to be photographed her naked upper body for a fee of 45 pounds.

Recording and production

The album " Supertramp " was until April 1971 at Olympic Studios in Barnes, a district in the Borough of Richmond upon Thames in London ( UK), received by March. Sound engineer was Bob Hall and on tape acted Rufus Cartwright.
