Innerferrera

Innerferrera (Romansh Calantgil ) is a fraction of the community Ferrera GR in a circle Shams in the district of Rhein Behind the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland. On 1 January 2008 it was merged with the municipality to municipality Ausserferrera Ferrera.

Geography

The place is a scattered village at the confluence of the Rhine and Ferrera - Niemetbach in the only valley in the rear of the Ferreratal. Of the total urban area of almost 44 km ², 65% unproductive area (mostly mountains). After 10 km ² ( exactly 1,006 ha) can be used for agriculture, but these are almost entirely to Alpwirtschaftsgebiet. More 516 ha are covered by forests and woodland and the remaining 18 ha are settlement area.

Languages

Originally, the inhabitants spoke Sutselvisch, a Grison Romanesque dialect. Even in 1880 gave all 52 people Romansh as their mother tongue. Until the First World War did not change the language situation (1910 96.15 % Romansh ). In the interwar period, the decline of the Roman followed. In 1941 were the Romansh with 46.3 % share in the minority. Until 1980 there was a shrinking minority Romansh. Today the village is almost monolingual German.
