Irupana Municipality

The municipality Irupana (also ' "Villa de Lanza " ) is a district in the department of La Paz in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Location in near space

The municipality Irupana is one of five Municipalities of the Province Sud Yungas, located in the southern part of the province. It is bordered on the southwest by the province of Murillo, in the south of the province Loayza, on the southeast by the provincial Inquisivi, on the northeast by the municipality of La Asunta, on the north by the municipality of Chulumani, and on the northwest by the municipality of Yanacachi.

The municipality has 109 localities ( Localidades ), the central location of the municipality is Irupana with 1,882 inhabitants in the central part of the municipality. The second largest town in the municipality is Chicaloma with 634 inhabitants. (2001)

Geography

The municipality is located in the Bolivian Yungas Irupana at an average altitude of 1800 m on the eastern slopes of the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Real. The region has a pronounced diurnal climate, in which the temperature fluctuations between day and night be stronger than between seasons.

The mean average temperature of the region is 19 ° C, the annual precipitation is about 1150 mm (see climate chart Chulumani ), the monthly average temperatures vary only slightly between 17 ° C in July and 21 ° C in December.
