ITU World Triathlon Series

The Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Series is a triathlon racing series on the " short- distance" or " Olympic triathlon distance" (1.5 km swim, 40 km cycling and 10 km running).

Organization

By the International Triathlon Union ITU (International Triathlon Union) Triathlon World Championship in 1989 was first held as a 1- day World Championships in Avignon and repeated annually since then until 2008.

2009 Triathlon World Championships was subsequently extended under the name " Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Series " on an international racing series. Dextro Energy, the title namesake of this series is regarded as one of the leading grape producer.

Gold Group

The ITU determined annually a " Gold Group " - for the ten best men and women of previous years represent the ITU in public and secure their national associations for each of the seven races one additional place.

For 2011, in addition to the Olympic champions Emma Snowsill and Jan Frodeno Steffen Justus and for Switzerland Nicola Spirig and Sven Riederer with it. In June, after the race in Madrid, there is here a new announcement of the 20 members of this group.
