2009 ITU World Championship Series

The World Championship Series is an annual triathlon race series on the " short- distance" or " Olympic triathlon distance".

Organization

The distances for this race are 1.5 km swim, 40 km bike and 10 km run. This World Cup is organized annually since 1989 by the International Triathlon Union ( ITU).

The participants of the World Championship Series 2009 was each limited to 65 women and men and at the final event there were then 75 decisive for participation are the international ranking points. Per nation and gender are allowed to start per race a maximum of six athletes.

There were seven races in 2009 over the Olympic distance for men and women and as ending the eighth, which took the "Grand Final" in Australia

Winner of the " Grand Final" in September 2009 and also world champion on points was made after a brief decision, the Australian Emma Moffatt and the young Brit Alistair Brownlee.
