Daniela Ryf

Daniela Ryf (* May 29, 1987 in Solothurn ) is a Swiss triathlete, Swiss Triathlon Champion (2012, 2013) and European Champion on the half Ironman distance ( Ironman 70.3, 2013).

Career

A native of Solothurn Ryf took part in 2000 for the first time a student triathlon. It was followed by three Swiss championship title in the Youth category. She won her first international success at the 2003 European Championship by winning the gold medal in the team standings. 2004 and 2005 followed by two more Junior European Champion title in the individual competition in 2006 in a bronze medal in the team standings added. Daniela Ryf starts predominantly at the Olympic distance race (1.5 km swim, 40 km cycling and 10 km running) and since 2013 also on the half Ironman distance ( 1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling and 21.1 km running ).

From 2003 to 2006 Ryf was four consecutive Swiss junior champion. On June 8, 2008, she won in Vancouver Triathlon World Champion title in the category U -23 and qualified for the Olympic Summer Games in 2008.

She could already qualify in June 2012 for the second time for a starting place in the Olympics and went to London together with Nicola Spirig, Sven Riederer and Ruedi Wild for Switzerland at the start, where she reached the 40th position. In September, she won the title in Murten the Swiss champion in the Olympic triathlon distance.

Daniela Ryf 2013 is a member of the elite B-team in the Swiss Triathlon Team. In May it launched in St. Pölten first time at the half-distance Ironman and in August she was in Wiesbaden European champion at the Ironman 70.3 - distance.

She is coached by Craig Walton and now lives in Feldbrunnen -St. Niklaus.
