Laurent Vidal

Laurent Vidal (born 18 February 1984 in Sète ) is a French professional triathlete, French Triathlon champion ( Olympic Distance ) of the years 2009 and 2011, under-23 champion in 2006 and Olympic participants 2008.

Career

Vidal was able to prevail in his ITU debut in 2002 and immediately became vice European Junior Champion in 2003 he was at the Junior World Championship in fourth. In 2008 he represented France at the Olympic Games in Beijing, where he was 36th. In 2010 he opened the season with a gold medal at the Oceania Championships, in 2011 he was able to assert itself as the best French triathlete: at the European Championships, he was the 7th, at the World Championship Series triathlon in London and at the Sprint World Championships in Lausanne, he came 6, so he was two out of three times before his largest French competitors David Hauss, which showed places 13, 7 and 4.

In the World Cup Series Ranking 2010 Vidal ranked # 6, 2011, he is number 9 (August 2011).

With two World Cup triathlons Vidal had to give up because he had suddenly lost consciousness: in Kitzbühel (14 August 2010) while running in Sydney (April 9, 2011) at the bicycle race, in which he crashed heavily.

In addition to the ITU competitions Vidal takes part in the prestigious French Club Championship Series Lyonnaise des Eaux and starts, as well Emmie Charayron and Fabienne St Louis, for Lagardère Paris Racing. In Dunkirk (22 May 2011), for example, Vidal took 10th place in Germany Vidal goes in the First Bundesliga for the EJOT Team TV Buschhütten at the start. Thanks to his sixth place at the World Championship Series triathlon in London (7 August 2011), he is already fix nominated for the 2012 Olympic Games.

Vidal is one of Draguignan at the Military School ( Ecole de Draguignan and Military EMD) to relocated Military Triathlon Team ' ( Equipe de France) and is Caporal of the French army. At the Military World Games in Rio de Janeiro (24 July 2011), however, he did not participate.

Vidal completed a bachelor's degree in sports management from and lives half in Sète, half in New Zealand hometown of his partner Andrea Hewitt, Christchurch.
