Ivan Ergić

Ivan Ergić ( Cyrillic alphabet: Иван Ергић, born January 21, 1981 in Šibenik, SFR Yugoslavia) is a Serbian football player. He possesses the citizenship of Australia and Serbia and is currently without a club.

Career

Ergić was born on the Dalmatian coast in Šibenik, where he lived in the village Gaćelezi. However, he was drawn at an early age to Perth, Western Australia. After he had gone through the funding of the Australian Institute of Sport, Ivan Ergić started his footballing career with Perth Glory. In 2000 he moved to Italian giants Juventus, where he was loaned to FC Basel for 1.6 million Swiss francs during the 2000/ 01 season.

As of June 2004 had to be treated Ergić longer time due to depression in the Psychiatric University Hospital Basel. His subsequent career as a football player was asked at this point in question. FC Basel held but to him and did not dissolve the employment relationship. From 2005 he was on the field again and became the 2006/07 season by coach Christian Gross to captain determined, a post which he gave voluntarily to the end of the 2007/08 season. On 15 May 2006 he was appointed to the levy of the former Serb- Montenegrin national team for the World Cup in Germany. Today, he is eligible to play for the Serbian national football team.
