Ivana Španović

Ivana Spanovic ( Serbian Cyrillic Ивана Шпановић; born 10 May 1990 in Zrenjanin ) is a Serbian athlete.

Your first international success came Spanovic at the Youth World Championships 2005 in Marrakech, where she finished fifth in the semi-finals in the long jump to eighth place in qualifying and over 100 meters. At the Junior World Championships in Beijing in 2006, she reached the finals in the long jump and finished seventh. At the Track European Indoor Championships in Birmingham in 2007 they only reached 18th place in qualifying and thus no starting place in the final round with 6,18 m. In the same year she started again at the World Youth Championships in Ostrava, finishing the final with 6.41 m in second place, which they won silver. In the Junior European Championships in 2007 in Hengelo she reached the second place in qualifying. In the final, she could not place itself. In July 2008 Spanovic won gold at the World Junior Championships in Bydgoszcz. Subsequently, she was nominated for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. In Beijing, but she missed the 16th place the final round and was eliminated after the qualification. In the Summer Universiade in 2009 they finally won gold. A year later, she qualified at the European Athletics Championships 2010 in Barcelona for the final and finished eighth with a jump of 6.60 m. At the World Athletics Championships 2013 in Moscow, she finished in third place with a personal best of 6.82 m. This Spanovic is the first Serbian athlete who had reached a medal rank in world championships.

At the national level Spanovic is successfully since 2006. She won from 2006 to 2008 three times in a row, the national junior title in the long jump and in 2009 also in the 100 -meter run. In 2008, she also won the Serbian league title in the senior long jump. In 2009, she was also able to decide the Junior Balkan championship. One of its hallmarks are her long fingernails that she often painted in eye-catching colors. Ivana Spanovic would like to know this considered a reminiscence of great athletes such as Florence Griffith Joyner and Gail Devers.
