Jackson Martínez

Jackson Arley Martínez Valencia ( born October 3, 1986 in Quibdó, Colombia) is a Colombian football player. He currently plays for FC Porto.

Clubs

Independiente Medellín

Jackson Martínez professional career began in 2004 with Independiente Medellin. In 2009, he won with the club the second half of the season ( Finalización ) of the Colombian football championship. For the club, it was the fifth title.

Jaguares de Chiapas

After five years at Independiente moved Martínez in 2009 for 2.8 million euros in the first Mexican league to the Jaguares de Chiapas. In his first season he scored 9 goals. 2011 Martínez won with the club in the Copa Mesoamericana, a tournament between Mexican and Central American teams. In the final Martínez scored three goals in the 4-1 win against AD Isidro Metapán from El Salvador. With five goals, he was top scorer of the tournament. At the start of the Apertura 2012, he was captain of Jaguares. With 33 goals, he is also the second leading scorer of Jaguares.

FC Porto

On July 7, 2012 it was announced that Martínez changes to the 2012/13 season for a transfer fee of around 8.8 million euros for the Portuguese champions FC Porto. He signed a four-year contract until 2016 with a release clause of 40 million euros. In his first competitive match for FC Porto in the Supercup final against Académica de Coimbra Jackson headed home in the 90th minute of the 1-0 winning goal.

In his first season Martínez was top scorer with 26 goals this season and took the championship with his club.

National

His debut for the Colombian national team, he was 5 September 2009 at the qualifying match for the FIFA World Cup 2010 against Ecuador, in which he also scored his first international goal. In the Copa América 2011, he was part of the squad in Colombia, but completed only a short-term use.
