Jaga Jazzist

Jaga Jazzist is a Norwegian, 9 -piece nu-jazz band from Tønsberg.

Band History

Founded as the formation in 1994 by Lars Horntveth; at this time the majority of the band was not yet of age. Their music is mainly influenced by the sound of wind instruments such as saxophone, trumpet, trombone, tuba and bass clarinet. Other instruments include electric guitar, electric bass, Fender Rhodes, vibraphone and synthesizer, and effects. Since 2001, they appear on the Oslo record label Smalltown Supersound, which sublicensed all publications in addition to Ninja Tune. In 2003, the brass section of Jaga Jazzist together with Motorpsycho album " Jaga Jazzist Horns Motorpsycho - In The Fishtank " on. Some members of Jaga Jazz ists are also represented in the Norwegian pop band The National Bank, Martin Horntveth plays in the avant- metal band killl. Other projects in the form of the band Shining and the respective solo projects of the brothers Martin and Lars Hornveth continue to be published.

Occupations

The cast varied often in the band's history, with the number of the band members until 2010 was always ten musicians; on the published 2010 album One - Armed Bandit Jaga Jazzist is the first time a nonet. As founding members are still active today:

The music of Jaga Jazzist refers influences from various genres and performs this new together.
