Jaime Espinal

Jaime Espinal Yusept ( born October 14, 1984 in Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) ) is a Puerto Rican wrestler. He won a silver medal in the free style in the middleweight division at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Career

Jaime Espinal Yusept was born in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. His parents soon moved on to Puerto Rico, where they received about the nationality of that country. There Jaime came in 1994 to wrestle. He now belongs to the sports club Sparta Bayamon au and is coached by Pedro Rojas. He is 1.78 meters tall, weighs 85 kg and is a student at the University of Puerto Rico.

At the international wrestling mat Jaime Espinal is a late starter. He played his first international competition at the age of 23 years at the 2007 World Championships in Baku welterweight. He had to pay while still being duly dues retired after defeats against Machatsch Murtasalijew from Russia and Krystian Brzozowski, Poland and finished only 27th place.

In the following three years he was able to win one medal at the Pan American Championships. In 2008 he finished second in Colorado Springs 3rd place, 2009 in Maracaibo again the 3rd place and 2010 in Monterrey even the 2nd place.

Less successful, however, he was at the World Championships. In 2009, he came in Herning / Denmark on the 9th Place and defeated it in the middleweight division after all, Miroslaw Geschew from Bulgaria and Theodossios Pawlidis from Greece. In 2010, he resigned in Moscow after a defeat against Ibragim Aldatow from Ukraine after the first round and ended up in 19th place. 2011 in Istanbul get him back two victories. He suggested Usukhbaatar Purvee from Mongolia and Radoslaw Marcinkiewicz of Poland, but then lost to Armands Zvirbulis from Latvia, finishing in 11th place.

After Jaime Espinal had failed in 2008 to qualify for the Beijing Olympics, he succeeded in 2012 by a second place behind Humberto Arencibia Martinez, Cuba at the tournament in Kissimmee Orlando / United States. At the Olympic Games in London in 2012 he showed his best performance in his wrestler 's career. He defeated there Adibo Andrew Dick from Nigeria, Dato Marsagischwili from Georgia and Soslan Gattsijew from Belarus and was thus in the final of the world championship of 2011 Sharif Scharifow from Azerbaijan towards, against whom he had a terrible chance and lost on points. However, the profit of the Olympic silver medal is a great achievement for him. It was the first win a medal at an international championship for a Puerto Rican wrestler ever.
