James Holland (footballer)

James Holland ( born May 15, 1989 in Sydney ) is an Australian football player. He is since January 2012, when FK Austria Wien under contract.

Club career

Holland played from 2005 to 2006 at the NSW Institute of Sport and 2007 at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS ). In preparing for the 2006/07 season he coached some time with the Central Coast Mariners and came to three inserts in the Pre- Season Cup 2006.

In October 2007 he was awarded with the Newcastle United Jets a short -term contract and scored on his league debut against Wellington Phoenix after 16 minutes of the 1-0 lead. After a further application a week later, he returned first to the AIS before he signed a firm contract with the Jets in December. Holland moved immediately on to the squad and was both the last five games of the regular season, and three games in the play-offs in the initial lineup. Only in the championship final against the Central Coast Mariners, who had also been working for a commitment from Holland in December, he was substituted after 70 minutes. Due to the 1-0 final win over the Mariners Holland won the Australian championship in his first season as a professional.

In January 2009 Holland moved for a transfer fee of around 300,000 euros to the Dutch first division club AZ Alkmaar. He signed a contract until June 2013. Having remained in the first round 2010/11 without duty stake for Alkmaar, he spent the second half on loan at Sparta Rotterdam.

On January 16, 2012, he was obliged, on the advice of ex- Alkmaar or Austria Keeper Joey Didulica after one week trial of FK Austria Wien. In May, 2013, after the first championship in Austria, Austria Wien pulled the contract option, bringing Holland's contract extended at the violets until the summer of 2015.

National

Holland belongs since 2007 to the contingent of the Australian U-20 team. In early March 2008 he came first for the first time for the Australian Olympic team (U -23 ) are used and the end of March his debut in the Netherlands in a friendly match against Singapore in the Australian national team.

During the Olympic Games in 2008 Holland was one of four players who were ready on call and traveled with the team, but not part of the official squad. In November 2008 he took part as a regular player in the U -20 to U-19 Asian Cup, when the team reached the semi-finals and thereby qualified for the Junior World Championships in 2009.
