Jämtland County is made up of the largest parts of the historic landscapes and Härjedalen Jämtland and minor parts of Hälsingland Ångermanland, Dalarna and Lapland.

Traffic

The European route 14 from Sundsvall to Trondheim in east-west direction and the European Route 45 from Agrigento to Karesuando in north-south direction cross each other in the middle of Jämtland County in Östersund.

There are direct trains to Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö, Sundsvall and Trondheim.

The Inland Railway from Gällivare to Mora runs from north to south through Jämtland County. The route is not continuous but requires a switch in Östersund. The northern rail section ends and the southern begins there. Jämtland County has two commercial airports with scheduled service. From Östersund, direct flights to Stockholm -Arlanda Airport, Umeå and Luleå. Seasonal there are direct charter flights to Southern Europe and the Canary Islands. In the winter months will be held Charter of the United Kingdom, Germany and Russia. From Sveg in the community Härjedalen there are also direct flights to Stockholm -Arlanda Airport.

Tourist routes
