Jan Veselý (cyclist)

Mr Vesely ( born June 17, 1923 in Plástovice, Czechoslovakia, † February 10, 2003 in Prague) was a Czech cyclist.

Cycling career

A friend of his father took him to Prague. There he learned the baker's trade. He drove, as at that time ( 1939) common to every morning fresh baked goods to customers - by bicycle. 1940 began his cycling career with the Radmeisterschaft Prague Baker. He won - as a 17 -year-old apprentice.

It was followed by the membership in a Prague Cycling Club, where he was provided a wheel, because he was already estimated as talented.

After the war, he won another race, and also let participants in the Tour de France Otokar Rozvoda professional and behind. The Peace Race he drove from 1948 to 1957 as captain of the Czechoslovakian team.

With 34 years, he ended his career and continued to work as taxi drivers and transport drivers. At 79, he died in Prague on cancer.

Private

Him a close friendship with Gustav Adolf Schur. The first son of Gustav Adolf Schur got his name - Jan Schur.
