Janne Holmén

Janne Sven -Åke Holmén ( born September 26, 1977 in Jomala ) is a Finnish long-distance runner and former European champion in the marathon.

Four times he was national champion in the 10,000 -meter run ( 1999-2001, 2003). His personal best over this distance he put on 15 June 2003 28:09,94 min in Turku.

His greatest achievement so far is winning the marathon of the European Athletics Championships in Munich in 2002, where he improved his personal best by over four minutes to 2:12:14 h. The following year, he remained at the Berlin Marathon with 2:12:10 hours with this brand, but only enough for 13th place.

In a marathon, the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, he was ranked 22 and the marathon at the European Championships 2006 in Gothenburg 7th place A year later he was at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka ninth. In 2008, he went to Beijing in his second Olympics at the start and was 19

Janne Holmén is the son of Finnish athletes Rune Holmén and Nina Holmén.
