Veikko Karvonen

Veikko Leo Karvonen ( born January 5, 1926 in Sakkola, Finland, today Gromowo, Russia; † August 1, 2007 in Turku ) was a Finnish marathon runner who achieved his great success in the 1950s.

With the Summer Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 he won the bronze medal in the marathon.

Between 1950 and 1955 he improved seven times the Finnish national record in the marathon.
