Jean-François Deniau

Jean -François Deniau ( born October 31, 1928 in Paris, † 24 January 2007 ) was a French politician of the UDF, diplomat and writer. He was elected member of the Académie française in 1992.

Life

He wrote the foreword to the Treaty establishing the European Community. From 1967 to 1972 he was a member of the European Commission as Commissioner for External Relations.

In the European elections in 1984, he was elected to the European Parliament.
