Jean-Paul Villain

Jean -Paul Villain ( born November 1, 1946 in Dieppe ) is a former French athlete who began his career in Dieppe. At a height of 1.70 m his competition weight was 53 kg.

At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City Villain won his heat in the 3,000-meter steeplechase ahead of Australian Kerry O'Brien. In the final he lost early in the connection and was only ninth.

In Athens at the European Championships in 1969 Villain was fifth in 8:33,4 minutes. Two years later at the European Championships in Helsinki won the title Villain with a new French record of 8:25,2 minutes ago Dušan Moravcik from Czechoslovakia in 8:26,2 minutes.

At the Olympic Games in Munich in 1972 Villain was eleventh in 8:46,8 minutes. At the European Championships in 1974 and at the 1976 Olympic Games, he did not reach the final.

Jean -Paul Villain became French champion in the steeplechase in 1965, 1969-1971 and 1976.
