Jim Campbell (ice hockey)

James "Jim" Campbell ( born April 3, 1973 in Worcester, Massachusetts ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player. During his playing career he played 285 NHL games for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, St. Louis Blues, Montreal Canadiens, Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning in the National Hockey League.

Career

The NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens in 1991 collected in the second round to 28th position selected Campbell first experiences in the National Hockey League for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, for whom he scored his first two goals. His career began in 1991 in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Hull Olympiques, where in 64 games he scored 85 points in his first season.

After moving to the St. Louis Blues, he got there on first-team regular and was appointed All- Rookie team in the NHL at the end of the 1996/97 season. He qualified with the blues while for the playoffs, but the team lost in the second round against the Detroit Red Wings. In the following two seasons of Americans could not build on previously shown benefits. In summer 2000 he undertook the Montreal Canadiens, which he left a short time later to hire for the Chicago Blackhawks or the Florida Panthers. In 2002 he went to the San Antonio Rampage and was there because of his strong performance at a leading player. After many more games in the AHL and only one in the NHL, he went in 2006 to Switzerland for EHC Basel and then to EHC Visp.

Internationally

At international level, Campbell represented his country at the World Junior Championships in 1992 and 1993. A year later he represented the United States at the Olympic Winter Games in Lillehammer, Norway. He also played in the A World Championships in 1997 and 2001. In 1992 he won the bronze medal with the U.S., he finished fourth in 2001.
