Jinan

Jinan ( also: Tsinan ) (Chinese济南市/济南市, pinyin Jǐ'nán Shì ) is the capital of Shandong Province in the People's Republic of China and one of 15 sub- provincial cities in the country.

Jinan is located on the Yellow River in the center of Shandong Province. Jinan is a transport hub, it lies at the junction of railway lines Shanghai - Beijing and Jinan -Qingdao.

The name of the city

The importance of, Jinan ' is the place south of the river Ji '. Ji (济or済was the name of Ji- flow) and Nan (南) means south. The river Ji was one of the four largest rivers in China ( the other three being the Yellow River ( Huang He), the Yangtze River, the Huai River ). The Yellow River runs outside the main town in the north. In 1855, the Yellow River has changed the route because of a flood in Henan Province. Since then, the river Ji is a part of the Yellow River.

The name is Jinan since the Han Dynasty (202 BC - 220 AD) known. Cao Cao, King of Wei (魏) during the period of Three Kingdoms, was the main chairman in Jinan.

Although the once- eponymous river no longer exists, many place names such as Jinan, Jiyang, Jiyuan and others will continue to exist.

Attractions

In addition to the "1000 Buddha Mountain " (千佛崖, Qianfo Ya) Jinan is known primarily for his more than 90 sources. Because of their more than 3,500 -year history Baotu source (趵, Bao Tu) has become the center of Jinan to a regional and national celebrity.

It has always applies in China as a source of inspiration, so many Chinese writers have in the past to the source established, such as the poet Li Qingzhao.

Science and Education

The Shandong Experimental High School is the largest and most important high school in the city. Students from all continents visit, total it comprises nearly 5100 students and over 500 teachers. The school has a partnership with the Holbein Gymnasium in Augsburg, received the 2005 and 2008 exchange students from Jinan and 2008 for the first time sent exchange students to Jinan.

Climate

The climate of the city of Jinan is a typical cool - temperate climate. In winter there is often wind with rain and temperatures are usually below 0 degrees. In summer it is hot and it rains often. The rainfall in summer accounts for more than 70 % of the total annual rainfall.

In the north of Jinan Yellow River flows and to the south lies a mountain range, the city lies in a basin, so the summer temperatures are relatively very high, especially in cloudy weather. The highest summer temperature can reach over 40 degrees.
