John Curry (ice hockey)

John Curry (born 27 February 1984 in Shorewood, Minnesota) is an American professional ice hockey goaltender who stands in the 2013/2014 at the Iowa game in the American Hockey League contract.

Career

John Curry was during his youth from 2002 to 2003 for the Taft School in the high school league system of the United States on the ice. He then began studying at Boston University and played hockey for the team, the Boston University Terriers in the Hockey East, one of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division. In the 2005/06 season the goalkeeper won with the team the championship of the Hockey East. A season later, the title defense was missed, but Curry graduated individually successful season as he recorded seven shutouts in 36 missions, reaching a quota of 92.8 percent. For these achievements, he was named Hockey East Player of the Year. In July 2007, he signed as a free agent contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins. In his rookie season, he came to 40 inserts for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the American Hockey League during the regular season, in which he reached a quota of 91.5 percent and 23 playoff games. In December 2007, the goalkeeper was voted rookie of the month in the AHL when he parried 93.9 percent of the shots. Curry managed with the Penguins a place in the finals of the Calder Cup, where they were subject to the Chicago Wolves in six games.

In the same season he also stood for the Las Vegas Wranglers and Wheeling Nailers in the ECHL in use. He spent the following season mainly at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, where he held the position as goalkeeper. Curry was still in the course of calendar year 2008 his debut for the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League when he was appointed to the NHL squad on November 26, 2008 as a result of the injury-related loss of Marc -André Fleury. In the game against the New York Islanders during the second period, he came for Dany Sabourin to use and parried up playing all eleven shots on goal the Islanders. In the following two years, he came for the Pittsburgh Penguins, but only sporadically used and remained first-choice goalkeeper in the farm team in Wilkes - Barre. In January 2011, he was re-nominated to the AHL All- Star Classic, as his teammate Brad Thiessen had to stop due to an injury. About five months later, Curry was engaged by the Hamburg Freezers of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga, where he signed a contract for the 2011/12 season. The goalkeeper was voted audience favorite and the fans player of the season. Nevertheless, he left Hamburg for a season again, as his dream destination was North America. Back in the USA Curry plays for the Iowa game or its farm team, the Orlando Solar Bears.
