John Densmore

John Densmore ( born December 1, 1944 in Santa Monica, California) is an American musician. From 1965 Densmore was the drummer for the rock band The Doors until its dissolution in 1973.

Life

On the new version of the band ( The Doors of the 21st Century ) with singer Ian Astbury as a replacement for the 1971 Jim Morrison died Densmore was not involved. For violation of the naming rights to The Doors he sued in the U.S. his former bandmates Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger and reached in July 2005 before the Superior Court of Los Angeles may seek injunctive relief to Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger further use of the ingredient " Doors" banned in the new band name. Since then the two have toured together with Ian Astbury under the name Riders on the Storm ( ROTS ). Since 2009, Manzarek and Krieger were uncommon as Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger of The Doors.

2006 The Doors received their own star on the Walk of Fame. However, John Densmore was not present at the official celebrations.

John Densmore was influenced greatly by his own words jazz drummer Elvin Jones. His own new band called Tribal Jazz, with which he returned to his jazz roots, released her debut album in 2006.

In the 2013 book The Doors Unhinged Densmore talks about his disagreements with Krieger and Manzarek on the use of the name The Doors for a tour of the two musicians, as well as a sale of music rights to Cadillac for advertising purposes and the subsequent court hearings.
