John Doerr

L. John Doerr ( born June 29, 1951 in St. Louis) is an influential American manager for venture capital in Silicon Valley -based private equity firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers in Menlo Park. There he works with, among others, Al Gore and Colin Powell.

Life and work

Doerr holds a Master's degree in electrical engineering and began his career at Intel in 1974, shortly after the company introduced the 8080 processor, which Intel to break through.

Since 1980 he works at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, whose partner he is now. There he was responsible for the financing of companies like Google, Compaq, Netscape, Symantec, Sun Microsystems, amazon.com, Friendster, Go.com and myCFO. KPCB was among other things responsible for the financing of America Online, Brio Technology, Electronic Arts, Flextronics, Genentech, Intuit, Lotus Development, LSI Logic, Macromedia, Quantum, Segway and tandem.

Currently he is, among other things on Google and Amazon a member of the Supervisory Board, and was such at Sun Microsystems.

He was inducted into the Midas List of Forbes Magazine The successful financing of leading technology companies, where he occupied 2008 square 1.

John Doerr is married and lives with his wife and two children in Woodside (USA). He is regarded as a supporter of Democrats and focuses on climate protection.
