Johnny Servoz-Gavin

Georges- Francis "Johnny" Servoz - Gavin, ( born January 18, 1942 in Grenoble, † May 29, 2006 ) was a French Formula 1 racing driver.

Career

Johnny Servoz - Gavin, also met with initial success he had achieved in the 1960s with a private Brabham in Formula 3 in 1966 in the work team of Matra Automobile, the Matra built after the takeover of the automaker René Bonnet. He first drove with moderate success in Formula 2, but could 1967 Grand Prix of Monaco recorded his first F1 start and 1968 to fight for his best result at the Grand Prix of Italy with the 2nd place in the overall result. Also in 1968, he had, as a substitute driver for the injured Jackie Stewart, located at the Monaco Grand Prix in the lead - until he touched a guardrail.

In 1969 he won the Formula 2 Championship in a Matra MS7 and was also the driver of the new four-wheel drive Formula 1 racing car Matra MS84, which he imports a point for 6th place at the Grand Prix of Canada; the only championship point, incidentally, has ever been achieved with a four-wheel drive F1 car. In 1970 he was at Tyrrell teammate of Jackie Stewart, both rode on March 701- Cosworth.

After a leisure accident in a open jeep (in winter 1969/1970 ), in which he had an eye injury suffered by a low-hanging branch that his view restricted even later, and thus incipient failures, he finished in mid 1970 on surprising and relatively his early racing career, as he now often unsure of felt.

Later Servoz - Gavin lived for years on a boat and took there in 1982 in a gas explosion burns. In the following operation, he had reportedly three cardiac arrests, but still could be saved by the doctors.
