Jonathan Coleman ( born March 9, 1975 in Boston, Massachusetts) is an American- Irish ice hockey player, who was last to 2012 when HC Appiano Pirates in the Italian Serie A2 under contract.

Career

Jon Coleman began his career as a hockey player on the team of Boston University, he was active in parallel with his studies from 1993 to 1997 in the National Collegiate Athletic Association. With his team he won in 1994 and 1995, the Championship of Hockey East. In addition, he was in 1995 with the Boston University NCAA champion. Even as a high school player of the defenders in the NHL Entry Draft in 1993 was selected in the second round than a total of 48 players from the Detroit Red Wings. For Detroit's farm team, the Adirondack Red Wings, he played from 1997 to 1999 in the American Hockey League. During this period he also came to a use for the Detroit Vipers of the International Hockey League. The 1999/2000 season he spent at the Kentucky Thoroughblades of the AHL before he began the following season in their league rival Providence Bruins and they finished at the Orlando Solar Bears of the IHL. The Solar Bears 2001 he was Turner Cup winner.

For the season 2001 /02 Coleman was the first time to Europe, where he was active for Amur Khabarovsk in the Russian Super League. In the following season he stood for the Vienna Capitals of the Austrian Hockey League contract before he tried it again in the season 2003/ 04 in North America and a long season for the Worcester IceCats aground in the AHL. The 2004/05 season began the former youth international at the HC Ambri -Piotta in the Swiss National League A, but left the club after just two games and spent the entire rest of the season with the Cologne Sharks of the German Hockey League. For the Sharks in 43 games, he scored a goal and gave four assists.

In the season 2005/ 06 Coleman rose with the Malmö Redhawks of the HockeyAllsvenskan, the Swedish second division, in the Elitserien on in which he, however, then did not play, but for the HC Bolzano in the 2006/07 season in the Italian Serie A1. The 2007/08 season he began in Austria, where he had previously played for the Vienna Capitals. This season, he spent much of the EC Graz 99ers before he finished at the Nottingham Panthers in the British Elite Ice Hockey League. In this he was also in the 2008/ 09 season on the ice, but for Nottingham's league rivals Coventry Blaze. In the summer of 2009, the Americans signed a contract with HC Appiano Pirates in Serie A2, the second Italian league, and was with his team in the season 2009/10 right off the bat second division champions. In June 2012, his contract was dissolved at the Italians.

Internationally

For the U.S., Coleman took part in the U20 World Junior Championships in 1994. In this he was no points in seven games and won two penalty minutes.
