Jon Morris (ice hockey)

Jon Morris ( born May 6, 1966 in Lowell, Massachusetts ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player. During his career he played for the New Jersey Devils, San Jose Sharks and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Ratingen Lions in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.

Career

Morris played for four years from 1984 to 1988 at the University of Massachusetts Lowell in the Hockey East the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Here, the Center collected more than 50 points per season. His best year he had in the season 1986/87 when he reached 61 points in 35 games and was named to the First All -Star Team of the Hockey East.

After the Americans had already been selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1984 in the fifth round to 86th position by the New Jersey Devils, he moved to the 1988/89 season to the professional. There he played in the season 's first four appearances in the NHL. These were his only appearances in the season, as he completed his studies. The following three seasons spent Morris between the NHL roster and the farm team of the Devils in the American Hockey League. During the season 1992/93 he was selected by the San Jose Sharks of the waiver list, but ran in the course of the season in only 13 games for the Sharks on. In October 1993, Morris was then transferred to the Boston Bruins, who used it mainly with the Providence Bruins in the AHL. These were in the 1993/94 season his last stop in North America, since he joined in the summer of 1994, also due to the lockout in the NHL, to Europe.

There he first played in the Italian Serie A for the HC Gherdeina. At the end of the season 1994/95 he was appointed to the levy of the U.S. national team for the 1995 World Cup. His last professional station were the Ratingen Lions in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga in the game year 1995/96. There he reached six points scorer with four inserts.
