Josef Straka (hockey player)

Josef Straka ( born February 11, 1978 in Jindřichův Hradec, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech professional ice hockey player who stands since November 2013 in Piráti Chomutov in the Tipsport Extraliga under contract.

Career

Josef Straka began his career as a hockey player with the HC Litvinov, for the first team, he made his debut in the Czech Extraliga during the season 1995/96. He came in 33 games for, scoring eleven points scorer and was runner-up. In subsequent seasons, the center forward was a regular player in Litvinov, before transferring to HC Plzeň during the season 1999/2000. At his new club he played seasonally across four years before he finished the season 2004/ 05 after temporary positions at its league rivals HC Sparta Praha and HC Orli Znojemští, the EHC Linz in the Austrian Hockey League.

The 2005/06 season began Straka at his former club HC Plzeň and finished it at HC Sparta Prague, for which he had accrued in the previous year. With the Brussels residents he was at season's end Czech champion. For the following season the right shooter from Lukko Rauma of the Finnish SM- liiga was committed. For Northern Europeans, he scored 24 goals in 56 games and gave an additional 36 templates. After a year he left the club and joined the Russian club Severstal Cherepovets at, for whom he played until 2012 - initially for one year in the Russian Super League and from the 2008/09 season in the Kontinental Hockey League newly established. He completed a total of 200 appearances for Severstal, in which he scored 79 goals.

In January 2012, Straka moved within the KHL Ak Bars Kazan for, for which he ran aground until end of season in 22 games and scored in those five goals and three assists. Then he received a new contract with Ak Bars and was committed in June 2012 by Awtomobilist Yekaterinburg. There he played until the end of December 2012, before he was arrested again by the beginning of January 2013 Lukko Rauma under contract.

For the 2013/14 season Straka signed a contract with the SCL Tigers of the National League B. However, for the Langauer he played only six games before the contractual relationship was terminated early. It was followed by a try-out with the Czech first division club HC Plzeň, where, however, he received no long-term contract. Finally, the Center in November 2013 were committed by Piráti Chomutov.

Internationally

For the Czech Republic Straka took at junior level at the Junior European Championships in 1995 and 1996, and the Junior World Championships in 1996 and 1998 in part. In the senior level in 2007 and 2008 he was in the squad of his country at the Euro Hockey Tour.
