Joseph Frans Lescrauwaet

Joseph ( Jos ) Frans Lescrauwaet MSC ( born June 19, 1923 in Amsterdam, † November 19, 2013 in Tilburg ) was Auxiliary Bishop of Haarlem.

Life

Joseph Frans Lescrauwaet joined the Congregation of the Sacred Heart missionaries and received on 12 September 1948, the ordination. In 1957, he was with a dissertation on the liturgical movement of the Dutch Reformed Church in Ecumenical Perspective Dr. theol. doctorate. From 1957 he was Professor of Systematic Theology and Ecumenical Theology, first at the Faculty of Catholic Theology, University of Tilburg ( 1967-1978 ) and later at the KU Leuven ( 1978-1984 ). In addition, he was a professor at the Major Seminary of Missionaries of the Sacred Heart.

In 1976 he was one of the first editors of the newly founded journal " Communio ". Lescrauwaet 1979 was secretary of the Special Representative of the Synod of Bishops for the Netherlands.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 19 October 1983, Auxiliary Bishop of Haarlem and Titular Bishop of Turres Concordiae. The Bishop of Haarlem Hendrik Joseph Alois Bomers CM consecrated him on January 14 of next year to the bishop; Co-consecrators were Hubertus Cornelis Antonius Ernst, Bishop of Breda, and Johannes Antonius de Kok, OFM, Auxiliary Bishop of Utrecht. He was also vicar general of the diocese.

On 22 March 1995, Pope John Paul II held his retirement application. He was until 2001 Spiritual and teacher at Sint Janscentrum, the seminary of the Diocese of 's- Hertogenbosch.

In 1986 he was appointed by Cardinal Grand Master Maximilien Cardinal de Furstenberg Grand Officer of the Order of the Holy grave in Jerusalem, and investing in Dutch Lieutenancy. He was Grand Prior of the Dutch Lieutenancy of the Equestrian Order of the Holy grave in Jerusalem.
