Julien Cousineau

Julien Cousineau ( born January 17, 1981 in Saint- Jérôme, Quebec ) is a Canadian alpine skier. He specializes in the slalom and giant slalom.

Biography

Cousineau won the 1996 slalom and the giant slalom at the Whistler Cup and took in November of the same year for the first time participate in FIS races. From February 1997 then served in the Nor- Am Cup, the North American Continental Championship. The first victory in a FIS race he reached in December 1998. At the Junior World Championship 2001 in Verbier, he missed fourth of the Super G just the bronze medal. From 2001 Cousineau has established itself in the front ranks in the Nor- Am Cup. In the 2002/03 season he finished fourth overall. He repeated this result in 2003 /04; He also decided the giant slalom rating for themselves.

His debut in the World Cup had Cousineau on October 27, 2002 at the giant slalom in Soelden. The first World Cup points he brought on 14 January 2003 as the giant slalom on the classic Chuenisbärgli in Adelboden twelfth. Five days later he finished tenth at the Lauberhorn in Wengen slalom. Without result, he stayed with the 2003 World Cup in St. Moritz, where he was eliminated in the slalom and giant slalom. On the other hand, he dominated during the 2007/ 08 season the Nor- Am Cup: He was the overall winner, the first giant slalom standings and second in the slalom standings.

Exactly five years after his hitherto last top-10 result in the World Cup drove Julien Cousineau January 18, 2009 in the Slalom in Wengen in ninth place the next time in the top ten. In his second world championship is in 2009 in Val d'Isere, however, he fell out in the slalom. In the World Cup season 2009/2010, the Canadian focused exclusively on the slalom and took no giant slalom and super combinations longer participate.
