Jürgen Heuser

Jürgen Heuser ( born March 13, 1953 in Barth ) is a former German weightlifter. He was 1978 world champion in super heavyweight.

Career

Heuser trained from childhood weight lifting, first with the BSG Motor Barth, later under coach Uwe Ihde at the BSG Motor in Stralsund.

After numerous participations and victories in Spartakiads and the multiple pay the GDR youth championships he won in 1972 the GDR Veterans Championships in the second heavyweight ( weight category up to 110 kg body weight) with 442.5 kg in the Olympic triathlon behind Jürgen Ciezki, 522, 5 kg and Grohnwald, 455 kg in third place. In the GDR Championship 1973, he launched already in the super heavyweight ( weight over 110 kg body weight), in which he now getting started. He finished it with 332.5 kg in single combat, the press was abolished at the end of 1972, behind Gerd Bonk of Karl- Marx-Stadt, 387.5 kg in second place.

Heuser, who always was one of the lightest Superschwergewichtler with a weight of just 125 kg, was first used in 1974 in international championships. At the European Championships in Varna, he came to 372.5 kg ( 160 to 212.5 ) and finished with this performance in fifth place. At the World Championships the same year in Manila, he increased further and won with 382.5 kg ( 165 to 217.5 ) behind Vasily Alexeyev, USSR, 425 kg ( 185-240 ) and Serge Reding, Belgium, 400 kg (170 - 230) took third place, where he benefited from the fact that Gerd Bonk has experienced three failed attempts at thrusting.

He also launched at the World and European Championships 1975 in Moscow, where he obtained with 412.5 kg ( 180 to 232.5 ), a result of more than 400 kg. He finished with this performance behind Vasily Alexeyev, 427.5 kg, Gerd Bonk, 422.5 kg and Christo Plaschkow from Bulgaria, 420 kg fourth place.

In 1976, Heuser at the European Championships 1976 in Berlin (East) 410 kg ( 180-230 ) to third place. European champion Gerd Bonk with 432.5 kg ( 180 to 252.5 ) before Christ Plachkov 430 kg. He could not compete in the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, because he had suffered shortly before departure, the GDR team to Montreal in training a shoulder injury.

In 1977, the World and European Championship was held in Stuttgart. He scored there 420 kg ( 182.5 to 237.5 ), thus reaching behind Vasiliy Alekseyev, 430 kg ( 185-245 ) and Aslanbek Jenaldijew, another Soviet athletes, third place.

In 1978, he scored at the European Championships in Havirov 407.5 kg ( 175 to 232.5 ). This power is sufficient to fight behind Vasily Alexeyev, 415 kg ( 180-235 ) raised, the second place ahead of Gerd Bonk, 402.5 kg. At the World Championships this year in Gettysburg for many years was considered unbeatable force Vasily Alexeyev by 185 kg in the snatch just in his best discipline bumping major weaknesses and had three failed attempts, which he dropped out of the ranking. The second Soviet Starter Sultan Rakhmanov, who had a much higher than Best Heuser, showed nerves. In 1979 he finished second in both the European Championships in Varna as well as at the World Championships in Thessaloniki. At the national level Heuser raised a few more years on and scored with his victories in the cup of the Blue Swords in Meissen in 1981 and 1982 with 427.5 kg ( 190 to 237.5 ) and 420 kg ( 180-240 ) still outstanding achievements.

After end of his career he worked as an engineer at the Stralsund shipyard people. Later, he was Technical Director in the Central pioneer camp Barth. After the political change in the GDR, he made himself as a taxi business in Prerow / Darß independently.

For his athletic achievements, he was in 1988 awarded " Honored Master of Sports." In 1980 he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.
